Chinese documentary filmmaker ZHOU at EICAR
The internationally renown Chinese independent documentary filmmaker ZHOU Hao was guest lecturer in the International Department at EICAR.
The 42-year-old director, one of the most prolific Chinese filmmakers, internationally famous for the documentary "Senior Year", spoke to students about his work as well as Chinese contemporary politics and cinema. He emphasized the importance of courage, perseverance and honesty in documentary filmmaking.
"Hot" French assistant director guest of the French Department
Alain OLIVIERI, star first AD who has worked with French masters like Maurice PIALAT, COSTA GAVRAS, Francis VEBER, HANEKE gave an exciting Master Class Lecture for EICAR students. OLIVIERI is also known for being the author of one of the most complex sequence shots in the history of cinema: the opening shot in Haneke’s "Code unknown". He has been guest lecture rat Eicar on Tuesday, January 30th. His talk, according to the students, gave them a better understanding of the complex job of the assistant director.
American director Bill TANNEN lecturer speaks to the International Department students
Bill TANNEN career is a perfect example of a virtuous eclectism. He had been an award winning commercial director before shooting ten feature films (starring Faye Dunaway, Chuck Norris, Kris Kristofferson,…) and also tv series and music videos.
He has met International Department students on January 25th, speaking about his career and the craft of directing and the “ups and downs” of working within and on the peripheries of the Hollywood system.
