Stéphane Gluck, Luc Besson’s 1st A.D, present for an exceptional lecture at the International Film school.

  Let’s talk about experience…

Last November 28th, Stéphane Gluck addressed a public of curious students and shared with them a wide range of anecdotes about his job as a 1st A.D, including mainly scouting and shooting experiences.

He also dwelled on the birth of his friendship with renown French director Luc Besson, on his relationship with Jean-Paul Rappeneau
during the shooting of the film Bon Voyage (2003), on his secret scouting in Los Angeles before the shooting of Taxi 3 (not to forget his memorable breakfast with Stallone).

For those who had in mind that being a 1st A.D only dealt with action and did not involve patience, he talked about the preparation of the long-feature Asterix and Obelix Meet Cleopatra and showed how a trivial line in the script: “Millions of workers are at work”, required months of research work before being put into images (what were the jobs at that time? What were the tools used? Not to forget the hundreds of extras that had to be hired…).

Last but not least, Stéphane Gluck also revealed that he was working on his first long-feature as a director.

    Good Luck to you Stéphane!
