Producing

Master of Fine Arts
with an emphasis on Producing

is a highly individualized 2 year program designed for students who have either a Bachelor’s degree in cinema or Fine Arts or who have had professional experience in the film or audiovisual media industry.

  • The Master’s Producing Program goal is to give students a thorough understanding of the aesthetic and technical aspects of producing and to develop their ability to organize and execute film, television, and media productions.
  • The first year consists of intermediary and advanced courses in the key disciplines of filmmaking (cinematography, directing, editing, screenwriting, production) as well as "hands-on-film" exercises and shorts. Additionally, in the first year, non-credited courses in the fundamentals of filmmaking are offered to MFA students who lack the prerequisites for the more advanced courses.
  • In the second year the emphasis is on the students’ thesis project in the area of their specialization. (Students specializing in Production are required to produce a minimum of 3 student productions in their final 3rd semester.) During the second semester, in addition required producing courses, students will have a series of specialized workshops, and intense one-to-one tutoring. Graduate students also have the possibility, when available, to work on professional productions, as interns.
