It’s with immense pleasure I announce the launching of EICAR’s brand new web site. EICAR, the only film school on continental Europe with an English language curriculum, is a unique experience in film education. The combination of high academic standards and intense "learning-by-doing" programs has made it one of the most successful film programs in France, if not Europe. Our philosophy at EICAR is five-fold:
Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of filmmaking. Students can only grow creatively if they are exposed to all the disciplines of the craft of filmmaking. Basic theoretical courses with lots of hands-on practical exercises are the foundation of the first year.
Shoot, shoot and shoot. At EICAR the emphasis is on shooting the film. We believe that making films and learning by one’s mistakes (and successes) are an integral part of the educational process.
Cultural diversity and teamwork are the cornerstones of the EICAR experience. EICAR’s student body of 63 different nationalities work together in creative collaborations as each student develops his or her own individual creative styles.
Workshops and master classes for advanced studentsin the areas of their specific interests. Individual tutoring by members of our distinguished faculty composed of professional filmmakers, chosen not only for their artistic accomplishments, but their talents as inspiring teachers and mentors.
Last, but by no means negligible, study and make films in Paris, the city of light, the city that gave the world the Cinématheque and the New Wave. Aside from our Film Museums, Paris has over 200 movie houses and the possibility to see over 300 films a week. It’s also one of the world’s most sought-after movie sets. To top it off, Parisian light and romantic locations can’t be beat.
