The
goal of EICAR's Directing
programme |
|
 |
 |
is
to give the students
the fundamentals
of the key disciplines
of film and video
production enabling
them to become visual
storytellers. |
|
 |
 |
The
programme emphasis
is two fold:
 |
 |
Cross-disciplinary
courses that give
the students the
knowledge and understanding
of all the aspects
of visual storytelling
enabling them to
direct and communicate
with their collaborators
and to fully express
their ideas on film
or video. |
 |
Hands-on-film
teaching where the
students "learn
by doing" in
a collaborative
environment. This
lets the student
develop his own
"creative voice"
through teamwork.
The students have
the opportunity
to work in most
film and video formats
including 16mm,
S16mm, 35mm and
HD. |
|
 |
 |
The
Directing Programme
is specifically designed
to give students professional
preparation for a career
as a film, television
or digital media director.
This is accomplished through
theoretical courses and
practical exercises as
well as extensive "hands-on-film"
work where students will
have the opportunity to
master the technical and
aesthetic principles of
filmmaking by directing
their own productions. |
|
 |
 |
EICAR
offers two degrees: |
|
 |
 |
Bachelor
of Fine Arts is
a 3 year programme which
provides a broad introduction
to the elements of filmmaking
with specialization in
one of four specific professions
(directing, screenwriting,
cinematography and editing).
|
 |
 |
Master
of Fine Arts is
a highly individualized
2 year programme designed
for students who have
either a Bachelor’s
degree in cinema or Fine
Arts or who have had extensive
professional experience.
The first year consists
of intermediary and advanced
courses in the key disciplines
of filmmaking as well
as hands-on-film exercises
and shorts. In the second
year, the emphasis is
on the student’s
thesis film as well as
specialization. Students
have additional required
courses in their specialization
as well as workshops,
and one-to-one tutoring.
Students also have the
possibility, when available,
to work on professional
productions, as interns.

Additionally,
EICAR offers Fast Track:
|
|
 |
 |
a
non-degree, one year intensive
filmmaking programme which
is tailored to meet a
student’s specific
needs. The programme serves
as a powerful springboard
for students looking to
begin their film education
by testing the waters.
Special Directing modules
are available to
Fast Track students.
