The school year consists of three academic terms

each approximately 11 weeks long. Generally, the first term begins the second week of October; the second, the second week of January; the third runs through April to the beginning of July.

The first term consists of theoretical courses with filmed exercises.

The second term is a combination of theoretical and hands-on-film courses, as well as workshops and master classes given by guest professors, all of whom are film professionals.

The third term is dedicated to hands-on production where students actively participate in all aspects of the preparation, shooting and post-production of student films.

For students in the advanced programmes and meeting the prerequisites, film productions begin in November and run until the following September.

Mid-term examinations are held the 5th week of each term.

There are two school calendar holidays:

Winter break

- Spring break
